Review
Once in a while, a film comes along that leaves an indelible mark on the world of cinema, and Rajinikanth’s latest offering “Jailer” is one such film. Every aspect of the film – the story, the amazing acting, the direction and the music – captivates the audience, making it a true cinematic masterpiece.
Rajinikanth once again dominates the screen with his charisma. He blends valor, sensitivity and mystery in the role of ‘Jailer’ Muthuvel Pandian in such a way that the audience is spellbound in every frame. His dialogue delivery, body language and emotional maturity make him an epitome of acting.
The story of the film is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, touching upon themes like power, justice and personal redemption. The screenplay keeps the audience hooked from start to finish. While there is plenty of action on one hand, there is also emotional depth on the other. The audience is shocked by every twist in the story and the suspense remains till the end.
The biggest strength of the film is its supporting cast. Every character, whether small or big, leaves its mark. Cameos by Shiva Rajkumar (Kannada superstar) and Mohanlal (Malayalam superstar) surprise the audience and their scenes become even more memorable with the powerful background music. The comic timing of Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and VTV Ganesh brings light moments to the film. Director Nelson Dilipkumar’s touch of dark comedy gives the film a distinct identity.
Vinayakn has done wonders in the role of the villain. Playing a negative character in such an effective and serious way shows his acting skills. Even small roles of actors like Ramya Krishnan, Vasantha Ravi, Sunil and Jaffer leave a deep impact in the film.
Anirudh Ravichander’s music becomes the second hero of the film. Be it an action scene or an emotional moment – his background score brings life to every scene. Songs like “Hukum”, “Kaavala”, “Rathmare” and “Jujubee” are already on people’s lips. Especially “Hukum” – is a swag filled experience for Thalaiva fans.
The first half of the film is full of Rajinikanth’s swag, while the second half highlights director Nelson’s storytelling style, although feels a bit long (total duration 2 hours 48 minutes).
Overall, “Jailer” is not just a film but an experience. The film beautifully portrays the complex relationship between a father and son, honesty and the spirit of revenge. Rajinikanth’s powerful comeback, great music and strong story make it a blockbuster. This film is a must watch for every cinephile.
